Meatballs and Pizza – a mash-up of two Italian-American favorites! A super fun meal to make with kids, or use the meatballs in your own artisanal pizza recipe!
Total Time: 30 min
Prep: 10 min
Cook: About 20 min
Yield: 12-inch pizza
Level: EASY
Ingredients
1 pizza dough, store bought or homemade for a 12” pizza
All-purpose flour or cornmeal (for dusting)
1 cup store bought or homemade marinara sauce
8-oz mozzarella cheese, grated or fresh
6-12 Butera’s Chicken Meatballs, sliced or halved (number of meatballs depends on how meaty you like your pizza)
1-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Directions
• Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
• Form the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Gently stretch to 12 inches around and about ¼ inch thick. Transfer to a pizza peel or lightly oiled baking sheet.
• Poke the pizza dough in several areas with the tines of a fork. Drizzle the dough with extra-virgin olive oil then season it with a little salt. Place in oven 10 minutes. (Tip – pre-baking the crust as described will make the pizza much easier to handle).
• Remove pizza crust from oven and spread sauce on the crust leaving a ½” border around the edge. Evenly spread the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and add the meatballs. Return the pizza to the oven and bake until cheese is golden, another 10 to 12 minutes.
